I wanna keep it how it is, so you can never say 'how it used to be.'
First off, let's thank Beyonce for such a great lyric. It's a great mindset to have, but where does the change, personal growth, or improvement come in? It's definitely needed.
It's funny at this point, referring to life, including friendships, family, jobs, lifestyles, and the luxuries that we appreciate in life for our page aesthetics on the gram. The world is changing, yeah we all know that. All of that shit can be taken away in the blink of an eye, and we tend to forget that! That goes for people, jobs, and your actual life. I'm actually glad at some of the changes and personal growth that I have been able to make during this difficult time. Majority of us have failed to realize there is no perfect way to adjust to the unknown, myself included. What works best for you may not be the best for someone else, or vice versa, and that is perfectly fine. As a heavy user of social media, I see opinions on everything under the sun from education, how much you should spend on a date, splitting bills, unemployment, to sex, drugs, and relationships. It's funny how all of those things can change a person. A bunch of different variables and situations that literally do not have one simple right or wrong answer, yet people get so offended by them. I just don't get it. Or maybe I'm just one of those people who can remove my personal feelings towards a situation that doesn't directly affect me, simply because I don't care.
People have disagreements on the way people choose to live their life whether it's related to a career, a friendship, having children, a sexuality, a marriage, or finances. I do it too. Whatever. If you and your household are good, why worry about what someone else got going on? There are times when I am in the middle of a conversation or overhearing someone talk, and literally have to say to myself, "Why does that even matter?" We're so used to seeing people's lives and we feel entitled to know every detail as we hide our own details. Did you catch that? I've grown to understand that life is no competition or a race. You can make it that way, but everyone won't play the same. It's natural to compare ourselves to others and to want bigger and better, but that all comes at a price that everyone is not willing to pay. Do what works for you!
For me, personal growth and change are two things that I am serious about. Whether I have to review my goals and aspirations daily, monthly, or quarterly, there are things that I am working on for me. I always write them down and make changes as needed. As you evolve in life, the changes you make are blessings or lessons. Even your family, friends, and the people around you evolve, and play a part of how you also evolve. Don't ever feel bad for taking a step back to make self readjustments, because it helps you with clarity and peace of mind in the end. Use the Do Not Disturb concept for more than just your phone, put some relationships and bad habits on DND, and see how you change.
Let some of that hurt go and worry about yourself for once. Life is so much better once you do. That's what I had to do, and it worked out for me.
mike.
